Colorado Child Care Tax Credit

Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit
at YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region

With your donation to the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, you can take advantage of the Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit (CCCC). The CCCC was designed to promote quality child care and increase availability across the state of Colorado.

When you select the CCCC box on your pledge form, the YMCA will use the CCCC gift to:

  1. Operate and/or expand child care programs.
  2. Provide financial assistance to families who cannot afford to pay the full program fee.
  3. Train child care professionals.

Benefits

The State of Colorado offers a 50% income tax credit for donations to child care centers. YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region donors are eligible to receive the maximum 50% tax credit.

What does that mean? This means that your individual or corporate contribution to the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region has a direct impact on the lives of families in our community AND it has the additional benefit of reducing your Colorado tax liability.

Note: Situations vary; please consult your tax advisor regarding your tax filings.

Guidelines:

  • The donor must designate in writing, either on the check, pledge card or by letter that the gift is for the CCCC.
  • In-kind gifts do not qualify for the CCCC.
  • Donors may not receive any goods or services in return for the contribution.
  • The credit allowed shall not exceed $100,000 per year.
  • Qualified charitable distributions from an IRA do qualify for the CCCC.

The YMCA will provide a signed letter that states the amount of the cash gift and the eligible purpose for which the gift was made, along with the DR1317 tax form in January. Donors must then submit the DR1317 tax form to the IRS to be eligible for the credit.

Next Steps:

To designate your donation for the CO Child Care Contribution Tax Credit, please check the appropriate box on your paper pledge form or indicate in the memo line of your check.

For all gifts made online, please email [email protected] to designate your donation for the credit.

Tax Day Never Made Anyone Smile - Until Now

Now you can donate your Colorado income tax refund and help the Y strengthen the foundation of our community.

When you complete your Colorado state income taxes, you can now support the Y's work in the Pikes Peak Region.

This new state initiative will give you an opportunity to directly support a local nonprofit like the Y. If you get a state income tax refund, the program puts you in control of deciding if you want to donate some or all of it and choosing exactly which Colorado-registered charity will directly benefit. This new and innovative way of raising funds will support the Y's work in our community, ensuring that everyone has access to the Y's life-changing programs.

And donating all or part of your Colorado income tax refund couldn't be easier!

  1. Decide how much of your state income tax refund to donate (all or any portion of it).
  2. Enter YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region and our state registration number 20023003948 in the Donate to a Colorado Nonprofit Fund line on your return or tax software - or just give this info to your tax preparer when you share your tax documents.

When you choose to donate from your state income tax refund, your contribution will go directly to the Y.

And, you can still take advantage of the Colorado Child Care Tax Credit when you donate your tax refund directly. Simply complete the form below and the YMCA will issue you the appropriate documentation at the end of the calendar year.

Contact the YMCA Development Office ([email protected]) if you have questions or need assistance.
