YMCA Youth Cheer programs give girls a fun, supportive environment to build confidence, strength, and teamwork while learning cheer fundamentals. Whether your child is brand new to cheer or looking to grow their skills, YMCA Cheer focuses on development, encouragement, and participation, not competition.
Programs are offered at multiple YMCA locations across the Pikes Peak Region throughout the year.
Designed for girls who want to learn cheer basics and be part of a team experience.
Participants learn:
• Cheer motions and jumps
• Dance and sideline routines
• Strength, coordination, and flexibility
• Teamwork and confidence
Cheer Squads also get opportunities to cheer at local YMCA youth sports games, helping athletes practice their skills in a real-world setting while supporting fellow YMCA teams.
No stunting. All experience levels welcome.
Perfect for cheerleaders who want to focus on skill development or complement Cheer Squad participation.
This training emphasizes:
• Cheer motions and technique
• Strength and conditioning
• Basic gymnastics-style movement
• Individual skill progression
Cheer Skills Training can be taken on its own or alongside Cheer Squad.
YMCA Cheer programs typically serve girls ages 6–14, with offerings varying by location and age group.

Uniform items such as cheer shirts, bows, and pom poms may be required for Cheer Squad and are reusable for future seasons. Details are provided during registration.
The YMCA is one of the few places in the Pikes Peak Region offering recreational cheerleading for younger athletes, making it a great introduction to the sport without the pressure of competitive programs.
The YMCA is committed to ensuring all youth can participate. Financial assistance may be available for qualifying families.
YMCA Cheer programs are open to both members and non-members.Â
Membership is not required to participate, but YMCA members enjoy discounted program rates and save an average of 27% on youth programs, along with added benefits year-round.

This winter, YMCA Cheer participants from across the Pikes Peak Region were invited to take part in a one-of-a-kind experience, cheering during a semi-professional basketball game at Ball Arena in Denver.
Our cheerleaders supported the game from the sidelines and performed a halftime routine in front of a live audience, professional photographers, and video cameras. For many participants, it was their first time performing in a high-energy, professional setting.
Moments like this reflect the heart of YMCA youth sports: building confidence, encouraging teamwork, and helping young people discover what they’re capable of with the support of a strong community. Whether on the mat, the court, or the field, YMCA programs create positive experiences that extend far beyond the season.
We’re grateful to Ball Arena and our community partners for helping make this unforgettable opportunity possible for our YMCA cheerleaders.
