Child Care for Medical Appointments

Children’s Waiting Room enables junior enlisted service members and their families to make health and well-being a priority. This unique program provides child watch services at the Evans Army Community Hospital, enabling parents to keep scheduled appointments without the stress of finding child care outside of the hospital.

Program Details

Available to active duty service members and their dependents
Provides up to two hours of supervision for children during medical appointments
Reservations are strongly encouraged and should be made as far in advance as possible
Walk-ins are based on availability
Closed on hospital training days, weekends, and federal holidays

Additional registration information and details about the official grand opening will be provided in early January 2026.

Operating Hours:
Monday - Friday
8:00-12:00 PM
1:00 - 4:30 PM

Ages: 6 months - 12 years

Please note that the Children’s Waiting Room is closed on weekends, all federal holidays, and training holidays.

Sponsorship Opportunities

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is a local nonprofit organization and the operating childcare provider for the Children’s Waiting Room. Through this program, we aim to serve up to 60 children from approximately 30 families each day, an estimated 7,500 family visits per year.

To launch and sustain the Children’s Waiting Room, support is needed for:

Furnishings and setup of the space
Part-time staffing (including a lead position)
Ongoing operational support throughout 2025–2026

Your sponsorship will directly support safe, high-quality childcare for families utilizing the Children’s Waiting Room while receiving essential services.

Online Registration Instructions

1. Access the online registration portal

a. Follow this link:

**If you don’t have a YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region account, proceed to Section 2. If you already have a YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region account, skip to Section 3.**

2. Click “Sign Up” in the top right corner of the screen.

a. Choose the location

b. Select a Membership that best matches your family structure–if you don’t want to sign up for a Membership, choose “Non-Member”

c. Enter your personal details and contact info (we don’t sell, trade, or share your personal information–(link privacy policy here) and click “Next.”

d. Add your children to your account by clicking the “youth” button–repeat until any children that will be utilizing Children’s Waiting Room are included

e. Click “Complete Registration”--congratulations, you’re now part of the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region family! Welcome!

3. Go back to the original link Registration Portal, Click “Children’s Waiting Room” and then click “Register.”

1. Select the name of the child you’d like to register for CWR
2. On the Select Dates screen, just hit Next–we’ll schedule your visit later on
3. Add Authorized Pickups–these are adults that are permitted to pick your child up in case you can’t
4. Fill out our brief Health Questionnaire
5. Read and sign the Liability Waiver and Code of Conduct
6. Click Check Out
7. Congratulations, you’re registered! If you have more than one child that’ll be using CWR, sign them up too by repeating the steps in this section. Now let’s schedule your first visit!

4. In the top right corner of your screen, click the “Activities” drop-down menu, and the click “schedule a visit”

a. Under “Select a branch to visit,” choose your location, then click "Schedule a visit”

b. Choose the children on your account that will be attending CWR, and then choose their location/age group.

c. Click “Next”

d. Find and select the day of your appointment, and then the time of your appointment in the drop-down menu

e. Check the box underneath your desired appointment time. If the checkbox is grayed out, either CWR is not open at that time, or that time slot is at capacity

f. Once you’ve selected your time slot, click “Book Appointment”--Congratulations, you’re scheduled!

*For any future appointments in this calendar year, you’ll only need to do the steps in this section (4).
