Cardio Drumming

Date: Thursdays, October 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Instructor: Mary Swantek 
Class Session: 1 hour sessions
Cost: $25

This unique drumming class is different from every other workout you have tried before. It captures the essence of movement and rhythm utilizing drum sticks and a stability ball. Cardio Drumming choreography is designed to burn fat, improve physical, mental fitness, and above all, be fun! You will need your own drumsticks to class.


Yoga Flow

Date: Mondays & Thursdays, October 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, 26 & 29
Time: 2:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.

Class Session: 1 hour sessions 
Cost: $40

Flow with your breath from posture to posture beginning with centering and warm-up, a standing sequence to tone and strengthen, followed by seated postures and ending with deep relaxation. Build more awareness, strength, and flexibility. No experience necessary, gentle enough for beginners with variations for those who are more advanced. No drop ins and registration is required.


Painting with Expression and Purpose

Date: Fridays, October 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30
Time: 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Class Session: 2 hour sessions
Cost: $47

Explore and learn techniques that will enable the artist to express meaning, emotion and attitude to your work. Color theory, composition and manipulation of line and value will be highlighted. All painting media welcome!


Watercolor Painting the Scapes, "Land, Sea, City, Cloud"

DIVE INTO THE WORLD OF WATERCOLOR! In this 2-hour live class, Commercial Artist Steve E. Bustamante invites you to learn intermediate techniques to handle washes and complex glazes in watercolor while exploring outdoor scenes. This course is for intermediate watercolorists who are looking to learn more advanced methods and watercolor techniques.Packed with live and real-time demos and examples, this class will cover: edge treatments, values, and structure; pigment consistency, washes, techniques; achieving textures and glazing a basic to complex glazes.

Students Materials List

Three to four colors of tube paint: Student or Professional grade

  • Red, Yellow, and Blue
  • Green and other colors are optional
  • Palette or dish to mix washes in
  • Flat board to attach your watercolor paper
  • One roll of general purpose masking tape
  • Two brushes: One Larger brush (like a 1/2 flat) & one smaller brush (like a round 8-10)

Students Materials List

Three to four colors of tube paint: Student or Professional grade

  • Paper: 140lb recommended & Cold press is up to your preference 
  • Two rinse cups (one for washing, one for clean water)
  • Rag
  • Hot air dryer (Optional) Paper towel (for lifting/blotting)

Zumba

Date: Wednesday, October 7, 14, 21 & 28
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Zumba® class mixes low and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party.  A total workout, combining all elements of fitness cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility. You will gain a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class.


Tunes & Campfire on the Patio

Date: Wednesday, October 28

Nothing beats an outdoor fire on a cool fall evening! Join us at the Senior Center on our patio for a contained fire with s’mores, good company and serenaded by live music. There will be an opportunity to share stories, get some fresh air, and get to know other people. Registration required and limited to the first 20 participants, guests must be registered prior to the day of the event.

Taiji Fit

Equipment of any kind will not be required nor provided, if you need any for the class please bring your own. Bring water! Please practice social distancing rules by maintaining 6 feet apart from others during the class


SilverSneakers Classic!

Date: Thursdays, November 5, 12, 19
Time: 9 - 10 a.m.
Instructor: Anna Lord
Class Session: 1 hour session
Cost: $18

Move to the music through exercises designed to increase muscle strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance training and a chair is used for support. This class is suitable for beginning to intermediate levels. All participants must be registered, even if you have a SilverSneakers membership; no drop-ins and no walk-ins. SilverSneakers members do NOT have to pay for the class but registration is required.


"Control the water not the paint" & other Watercolor Secrets

Date: Tuesdays & Wednesdays, November 3, 4, 10, 11
Time: 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Class Session: 2 hour sessions
Cost: $40

This is a class designed for students who want to quickly learn the art of Watercolor Painting. A heavy emphasis on artistic concepts pertaining to the medium will be covered, such as Transparency, Composition, Basic Color Theory, and most importantly Value. A fundamental, hands-on working knowledge of the medium and equipment will be addressed. Emphasis will be on problem-solving, skill-building, and helping students develop a personal style. Specific techniques will be addressed to help students make good decisions and work through the process of painting in this medium. Students will be given a variety of reference photos for regular weekly homework.

Supply List:

  • Paper: (1) size 9-inch x 12-inch pad of 140-pound Watercolor Paper (Strathmore 400 series Brown watercolor pad but please understand for now any brand 140-pound watercolor paper will do)
  • Paint: If you already have a set of watercolors bring those otherwise, you can purchase new Watercolor tubes or dried pan sets. At the very minimum buy (1) tube of each three primary colors (1) Red, (1) Blue, and (1) Yellow. The Danial, Smith, or Holbein (HWC) brands are preferred.

Supply List:

  • Brushes: (1) #12 Round brush with a sharp brush tip (1)#14 or 3/4 in Flat brush
  • Misc: (1) Platte to squeeze your colors out on. It can be plastic, a butchers try, or an old dinner plate (1) Small stick of graphite 2B, 4B, 6B, or 8B. Any of these options will work. (2) Masking tape you can but this at a local hardware store or Target.

Creative Journaling

Express yourself through creative journaling using a multitude of techniques including watercolor and pen and ink. Supplies needed will be discusses the first day of class.

Aging makes skin more susceptible to dryness. Dry skin in older adults can be simply a sign of age-related skin changes or signify underlying medical problems. Because dry skin can lead to other skin complications, it's important to monitor carefully. Join us for information on maintaining healthy skin.
