Over 30 years ago the YMCA began serving the Fountain community and impacting lives. In late 2018 the Y was notified that the current space would no longer be available beginning early 2020 due to the condition of the aging building. The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is proud to announce a partnership with Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 and the City of Fountain that will allow for a new and improved facility and location for the Fountain Valley YMCA. The Y is renovating the former middle school gym, the Dean Fleischauer Activities Center (DFAC), a 27,196 square foot facility located in the heart of Fountain.

Impacting the fountain community

Much like Colorado Springs, the Fountain community is growing at a rapid rate and community services and resources are struggling to keep up with the needs and demand. The Fountain community is facing a shortage of "safe spaces" for youth. The DFAC facility is located across the largest middle school in the State of Colorado offering the opportunity for the Y to reach youth as well as the entire community, through services and spaces provided below:

  • Morning Middle School Initiative (a safe place for students to go to receive support and guidance)
  • Free Membership for 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders in FFC8
  • Before and After School Programming
  • Full Sports Programming (Basketball, Flag Football, Baseball, Intramural)
  • Enrichment Summer Mini-camps (STEM, Dramatic Arts, Culinary Arts, Robotics)
  • Full Day Summer Day Camps
  • PEAK (Play, Enrichment, and Adventure for Kids), a monthly opportunity for parents to drop their kids off at the Y and enjoy a night out
  • Teen Life Skills Programming
  • Military Programs for Families (free or reduced special military pricing)
  • Active Older Adult Programming
  • Special Membership Program for Fountain Fort Carson School District 8 Employees
  • Extensive Healthy Living Center with new Fitness Equipment
  • Expanded Health and Wellness Services
  • Learn & Play (2.5hr per day)

At the Y, our programs and initiatives are the medium by which we make our mission come to life. We have known for years that our Y has provided people of all ages and backgrounds with a sense of belonging and a place to find support for a better life. In order to continue to serve the changing needs of the Fountain community, we must ensure our facility continues to create an environment where people feel safe, welcome and supported.
