Hike for Life

Hike for Life exists to nurture community, inspire exploration and preserve the great outdoors! The Colorado Springs Senior Center will offer monthly guided group hikes designed to be educationally-enhance, environmentally aware and safety-conscious.

Hike Schedule

May 15

Black Forest Section 16-Meet up location 8510 Burgess Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80908

Black Forest Section 16 Loop is a 3.8 mile, relatively flat (246 total elevation gain) moderately trafficked loop trail that is known for beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. We can either attempt the full loop or a shorter out and back hike based on group interest and weather.  Dogs (on leash) and horses are also able to use this trail.

June 12

Paint Mines- Meet up location Rock Island Trailhead 

Paint Mines Interpretive Trail Loop is a 2.3 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Calhan, Colorado that offers scenic views. The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips.  The highlight of the hike is the colored rock formations.  There are also small animals and wildflowers.  Dogs are not allowed in this park.

July 10

Lazy Land - Meet up location Yucca Flats Trailhead

Enjoy a casual hike in Palmer Park with a planned stop near Lazy Land Picnic area (if not in use we’ll use the picnic tables, if occupied we’ll find some shade along the trail) and enjoy a snack/lunch.  Expect a 2-3 mile hike with minimal elevation gain but a chance to see some of the other rock formations on the NE side of the park.  Dogs allowed (off leash in the dog area and on leash on the trails).

August 14

Red Rocks Campground- Meet up location Great Outdoors Adventures in Woodland Park

Red Rocks Campground Loop is a 1-3 mile loop trail (depending on routing) located near Woodland Park, Colorado and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, horses, and mountain biking and is accessible year-round. Dogs (on leash) and horses are also able to use this trail.  The trail will include views of smaller Red Rock formations and, depending on route, views of Pikes Peak.

Time

All hikes will take place from 12 - 2 p.m.

$15 per hike
