As we keep moving forward and prepare for the year, many of us are making resolutions, setting expectations for 2017 and detailing all that we want to accomplish. No matter what your goal is for this year, you can achieve it at the Y. Our goal for 2017 is to help you reach yours!
Here are some of the ways the Y can help you complete your New Year’s resolutions, no matter what they are:
I want to be healthier
When it comes to losing weight, getting stronger, improving your cardio or even eating healthier, the Y is the place to go to achieve those goals. Start on your path to wellness by taking advantage of any of our eight conveniently located centers for a heart-pumping workout. You can also try out any of our 400 weekly group exercise classes or commit to getting stronger with one of our nationally certified personal trainers. You can even learn to diet by attending a nutrition forum or by talking to one of our registered dietitians. If your goal this year is for a healthier you, we’ll help get you there.
I want to spend more time with my family
Want to spend more time with your loved ones? The Y can help! Consider signing up for a Family Fun Night or other Y event, like Flick n Floats. Want to connect with your kids? Go to a Father-Daughter Dance or coach your child’s youth sports team! If you’ve been hoping to spend more time with your spouse, drop the kids off at the Y for Parent's Night Out and start enjoying date night again. The Y is a place for families to grow closer together – there’s no limit to the ways you can strengthen your family at the Y.
I want to volunteer and make a difference
There are so many ways you can make a difference at the Y! Volunteer as a youth sports coach or class instructor, read to a youth class or simply greet people at the front desk. You can help us changes lives at the Y just by donating your time. If you don’t have a lot of spare time, you can also make a difference by giving to our Annual Campaign, which ensures we can provide financial assistance scholarships to those who need them and helps kids experience programs like swim lessons, youth sports and even camp for the first time.
I want to stick to a budget and save more
Let the Y help you save money this year. When it comes to the health and wellness of you and your family, you don’t want to make sacrifices. With options like the Family Program Package, the Y can help you save on swim lessons, youth sports and more! Our auto-payment option also lets you build your personal health into your budget when you hire a personal trainer.
I want to learn something new or take up a new hobby
If your goal this year is to learn a new hobby, you can do it at the Y. Take up ballroom dancing, painting or a new sport like karate, tae kwon do or swimming! Adults 55+ can also take classes like Italian or American History at the Colorado Springs Senior Center, so there’s nothing stopping you from learning something new.
I want to take more time for myself, relax more, and/or manage my stress better
If you want to take more time to relax this year, consider dropping your kids off in our two-hour childwatch and taking a yoga class or getting a massage at the Y. Invest in your own inner peace and take the time to do something that makes you happy, whether that’s a class like yoga or something that gets your heart rate up, like BodyPump. Sometimes, the best way to relieve stress is a run on one of our indoor tracks or simply taking an enjoyable class like Zumba.
I want to travel more
If you decide to travel this year, take advantage of the YMCAs all over the country. Contact the local Y at your destination for more information about their A.W.A.Y. (Always Welcome At YMCAs) program.
