Wellness At Work

“True life is lived when tiny changes occur.” Leo Tolstoy

We are committed to your employees' spirit, mind and body well-being. Employees are the most valuable assets to any company. Organizations that value and promote a healthy lifestyle have an edge when it comes to attracting and retaining people. Plus, companies enjoy a variety of additional benefits of healthy employees, including:

Increased Morale, Productivity & Retention

Physical activity improves moods and energy and decreases stress and anxiety. Active employees feel good about themselves and their work.

Decreased Absenteeism & Health Care Costs

An estimated 25-30% of companies' medical costs per year are spent on employees with excess, often preventable, health risk. Improved wellness reduces employee absenteeism, injury, overall medical claims and healthcare costs.

*Statistics proved by the American Heart Association, 2010.

Partnering with the Y gives you the support to make your employees healthier, happier and more productive.  We deliver programs you need directly at your business, illustrating your commitment to the health and well-being of your employees.  The word "Wellness" has a different connotation to different people. Through personal assessments and coaching, together we will create a program that meets the specific needs of your employees.

Here is a list of some of the wellness options available:

  • Group Exercise classes
  • Fitness assessments
  • Personal Training
  • Educational Seminars
  • Lunch & Learns
  • Group & Individual Well-Being Coaching
  • Team Building
  • Health & Wellness Challenges
  • Membership and access to 8 YMCA facilities

The Cost of Health Care

  • 90% of health care costs are associated with preventable illnesses.
  • 59% of employees don't get adequate exercise, resulting in problems like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity and heart disease.
  • The average employee misses 8.4 days annually due to illness or injury, totaling over $63 billion nationwide.
  • Each employee that smokes costs an employer an additional $3,856 a year in healthcare costs and lost productivity.

*Statistics provided by Health Affairs, 2010

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region has the expertise to help you develop a stronger, more vibrant and productive workforce. We know that with the increasing cost of health care, more and more companies are in need of a program that engages and motivates employees.

Candice Schlotzhauer

Candice is a certified Wellness Coach through the Institue of Integrative Nutrition. She became a coach because it became clear to her that success in wellness not only relies on knowing what to do, but how to make it happen in our ongoing, busy lives. Her focus is to understand your unique desires, motivators and challenges to most efficiently help you set appropriate, achievable goals. Candice is a Colorado Springs native and mother to 4 wonderful boys.

Note from Candice:
In our collaborations you will have my compassion and honesty to help propel you beyond your current state of wellness. My approach will be a non-judgmental one whereby I will hold you accountable to your wellness intentions. I will help you to recognize when you are not following your planned path, and be there to point out accomplishments that you may have overlooked. Coaching is overwhelmingly successful at helping everyday people accomplish long-sought-after goals; let’s work together to make your wellness dreams a reality.
